This is the first step in getting your medical marijuana License in Lawton. To do this, you’ll need to get a state-licensed doctor who is qualified to talk about and prescribe medical marijuana as a treatment option. We’ll advise you to stay away from family physicians; they seldom speak about medical marijuana, more less recommend it as a treatment option to patients. You can get a list of qualified doctors from the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority. Also, most dispensaries have clinic days when you can come into the dispensary and talk to a recommend physician who is familiar with marijuana use for medical purposes.

Schedule an Appointment with Your Doctor

Patients need to be 18 years and older to be eligible to see a doctor for medical marijuana-related reasons, unless they have a caregiver. The doctor will need to download and fill out a physicians recommended form, which is a requirement for the application process.

Apply Online

The next step is to head over to the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority (OMMA) website at omma.ok.gov and apply for a license.

To apply, you’ll be required to enter the following details correctly.

  • Patient’s full name
  • Residence and mailing address
  • Date of birth

  • Physician information
  • Patient signature dated within 30 days of the application date

Pay the recommended fee

Once you’ve filled in your necessary details, you’ll then be expected to pay a standard fee of $100. If you can provide evidence of your 100% Disabled Veteran’s status, the cost will be slashed to $20. Note that payment is non-refundable if your application does not get approved.

Wait on the outcome

Your application will be reviewed, and if you qualify, you should get your license within 14 days or more. Once your card has been mailed, Congratulations! Unless terminated by OMMA, your license should be valid for two years, after which it is subject to renewal.
